NEXXFIELD CHOOSEN BY A NEW YORK STATE SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR PLAY AREA
The Peekskill School District in Westchester County, New York, working in association with Fuller & D’Angelo Architects, have selected the NexxField XGen 2.80 system to be used for a 4,615 square foot outdoor play area at the Oakside Elementary School. The process began with the District wanting another option besides natural turf in an open area adjacent to a playground since both areas are heavily used. From past experience both the Client and Architect knew something other than grass would have to be used to accommodate the heavy usage with synthetic turf the likely choice. However, concerns for health and safety issues presented by a typical crumb-rubber infill system prevented them from going in that direction; instead Fuller & D’Angelo decided on NexxField and specified the XGen 2.80 as an Alternate to the base bid of natural turf. Currently the project is tracking for an August, 2009 install and will be done by Advantage Sport USA
